AUSTIN, TX – December 1, 2022 – Texas Employers for Affordable Healthcare (TXEAHC), a new non-profit focused on lowering the cost of healthcare for employers and families, announced its unwavering support of House Bill 711 authored by State Representative James Frank (R-Wichita Falls). House Bill 711 will address certain contract provisions and conduct affecting healthcare provider networks.

“A primary reason healthcare prices continue to skyrocket is because the market is rife with anti-competitive practices,” said Rep. Frank. “By prohibiting certain unfair contract provisions, HB711 will enable employees and employers to get the highest quality care for their healthcare dollars.”

Dan Burke Vice President of Corporate Benefits for Turner Industries Group, LLC and Board Chair of the non-profit Houston Business Coalition on Health, said, “Employers applaud the introduction of this important bill by Rep. Frank. Over 150 million Americans receive their healthcare through employer-sponsored plans and it will take a broad coalition and legislation to introduce true competition and fair pricing to the commercial healthcare market.”

Founding stakeholders of TXEAHC are non-profit organizations representing the state’s largest employers and a nonpartisan public policy think tank working to engage policymakers to restore healthy competition:
